A Night of Hope in Cavaillon
As the sun slipped below the horizon in Cavaillon, a rural commune in the Aquin Arrondissement of Haiti’s Sud department, we arrived at a place where hope was rising from the ruins. It was 6:30 PM, and the dusk sky gently embraced a humble gathering—a church constructed of nothing more than tin, sticks, and unwavering faith.
Facing the Storm
The year before in 2016, a devastating hurricane tore through Cavaillon, shattering the community’s efforts to build a permanent church. Carefully laid stones and steel reinforcements were reduced to twisted debris, symbolic of the physical and emotional toll the storm exacted. Yet, amid the wreckage, the people of Cavaillon chose resilience over defeat.

More Than a Building
The hurricane’s destruction presented not just a physical challenge, but an emotional and spiritual crisis. The real battle was not the ruined structure itself but the despair and uncertainty that followed. How could they rebuild—not just their church, but their hope?
Bringing the Word
Partnering with churches, organizations, and generous individuals, Global Point Ministries had distributed over 23,000 Bibles in our first 8 years. These Bibles represent more than mere pages—they are beacons of hope, lifelines for communities yearning for spiritual nourishment. In Cavaillon, our arrival sparked palpable anticipation.
Inside the modest dark structure that had no lighting, believers were already gathered, their voices soaring above the makeshift walls, filling the Haitian evening air with resilient songs of praise and hope. Their joy was contagious, their determination a testament to their unwavering faith.

Despite their humble surroundings, the spirit within the congregation was vibrant and defiant. Their heartfelt welcome reminded us that the true essence of a church lies not in bricks and mortar but in the strength and unity of its people. For this community, every Bible delivered symbolized a tangible reassurance—they were not alone in their journey.
