When the Word Reached La Gonâve

When the Word Reached La Gonâve

“Some seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty, thirty times what was sown.”

The Island Time Forgot

La Gonâve isn’t on most maps, let alone mission itineraries.

This tiny island floats off Haiti’s western shore—unconnected by bridges, cut off by more than water. The boat ride over is long, the heat unrelenting, and the poverty… visible. Life here is marked by scarcity—scarce clean water, scarce opportunity, scarce access to healthcare, and for most children… no access to books, let alone a Bible.

And yet, children wake each day with hope in their hearts.

They walk barefoot to school.
They laugh and sing in dusty schoolyards.
They long for something more, even if they’ve never seen it.

It’s not just a lack of resources. It’s the weight of isolation—the feeling of being forgotten.

The Day Everything Changed

We had prayed, planned, and packed for this trip. But nothing could’ve prepared us for what it would feel like—watching hundreds of children marching on school grounds, faces bright with expectation.

They didn’t know what was coming.

We did.

Each Bible we carried had been prayed over, carried across borders, and prepared for this exact moment.

One by one, we placed them into tiny hands—some hesitant, some trembling with joy. For nearly every child, it was the very first book they’d ever owned.

Their very first Bible.

One girl clutched hers to her chest and whispered, “Mèsi Jezi
Thank you, Jesus.

A Seed in the Soil of Hardship

This wasn’t just a book drop. It wasn’t charity. This was the planting of a seed.

We were reminded of the parable in Matthew 13:

“A farmer went out to sow his seed... some fell on rocky places… some among thorns… but some fell on good soil.”

La Gonâve may be dry. It may be hard to reach. But we believe… the soil was good that day.

Some held the Bible like treasure. Others held it like a lifeline.
And truly—that’s what it was.

Because the Gospel never returns void. And only God can make it grow.

What Happens When You Partner with Global Point

We didn’t do this alone.
We never do.

At Global Point Ministries, we don’t see ourselves as the heroes of the story—we’re the guides. The carriers of seed. The ones who walk alongside the local church to deliver the Word where it’s most needed.

You—our partners—make this possible.

Your prayers, your giving, your yes… made it possible for the children of La Gonâve to receive the Word of God.

And when the Gospel shows up, something always changes.

No one knows exactly how many lives will be changed from that one day.
But we know this:

The seed was planted.
And heaven is keeping count.

Why It Still Matters Today

Maybe this trip happened years ago.
But the Word planted back then?
It’s still working.

Because God isn’t bound by time. He is always watering, always calling, always growing what we can’t see.

The children of La Gonâve didn’t just receive Bibles.
They received a lifeline.
They received truth.
They received hope.

And now, they carry it into their families, their churches, and their future.

📖 Final Thought: The Power of One Book

One book.
One island.
One moment.

And a harvest only heaven can measure.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

"Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God."
